Accountant – Charity Finance Leader (Hybrid)

About the role

We are supporting a well‑established charity with UK and international operations in the search for an experienced Accountant. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this hybrid role combines leadership of a small finance team with hands‑on responsibility for the group’s financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation of monthly management accounts for the charity group, consolidating UK and Israeli subsidiaries using Xero.
• Oversee group budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis across all entities.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts and manage the full year‑end audit process.
• Maintain and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and produce timely financial reports for management and the board.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting, treasury processes and foreign‑exchange requirements.
• Act as primary contact for auditors, banks, regulators and other external stakeholders.
• Ensure system integrity and reporting across Xero, fundraising databases and internal systems.
• Support compliance with Charity Commission, HMRC, Companies House and other regulatory bodies.
• Supervise a team of two finance professionals.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with recent experience in the charity sector.
• Strong knowledge of SORP and charity accounting regulations.
• Proven experience of preparing group accounts, budgets and audits.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders and external parties.

Required skills

• Xero accounting software.
