Accountant – Finance & Trading (Hybrid, Alfreton/Nottingham)

About the role

The NHS Supply Chain is seeking a qualified Accountant to join its Finance team during a period of transformation. This hybrid position will involve ownership of key accounting activities, ensuring balance‑sheet integrity, compliance, and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of balance‑sheet accounting, ensuring accurate reconciliations and commentary.
• Support internal monthly management reporting, quarterly stakeholder reporting, annual statutory accounting and periodic ONS reporting.
• Liaise with audit teams as required and ensure audit recommendations are implemented.
• Lead and manage process‑improvement initiatives across finance to deliver efficiencies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of applicable accounting standards and apply changes promptly.
• Undertake ad‑hoc financial analysis and forecasting to aid business decision‑making.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant with strong technical accounting expertise.
• Detail‑oriented and able to work independently.
• Continuous‑improvement mindset and ability to drive process efficiencies.
