Accountant – Hybrid role in Cheltenham

About the role

This is a progressive, hands‑on accountant position with a fast‑growing SME backed by private equity. Based in Cheltenham, you will split your week between the office and remote work, supporting senior finance leadership and the board.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management information packs for senior management and the board.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and support the Financial Director with budgets and forecasts.
• Assist with due‑diligence work for potential acquisitions.
• Coordinate the annual audit, file quarterly VAT returns and produce financial reports for strategic decisions.
• Oversee the accounts assistant and handle invoice processing, payroll, payment runs and bank reconciliations.
• Participate in ad‑hoc projects aimed at process improvement and system changes.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within a growing business environment.
• Strong communicator able to build relationships at all levels.
• Proactive, hands‑on attitude with the ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
• ACCA/ACA/CIMA part‑qualified or qualified, or qualified by experience.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with common financial systems.
