Accounts Assistant – Fixed‑term (12‑month)

About the role

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join a well‑established SME in Eastleigh on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract covering maternity leave. The role offers the chance to manage end‑to‑end accounting processes, with a strong focus on payroll and multi‑entity bookkeeping, while supporting the finance team in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process the full accounts cycle, including ledger entries and reconciliations.
• Administer payroll for approximately 50 employees, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
• Handle supplier invoices, payments and treasury‑related activities.
• Assist with VAT return preparation and other statutory compliance tasks.
• Support ad‑hoc financial analysis and projects to meet operational objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in end‑to‑end bookkeeping and payroll processing.
• Familiarity with Sage or similar accounting software, particularly in multi‑entity settings.
• Strong organisational abilities with high attention to detail.
• Reliable, professional approach and capacity to manage a varied workload.
