Accounts Assistant Manager

About the role

This newly created position sits within a growing, modern accountancy firm that serves a broad SME client base. Working closely with the Director and Senior Managers, you will deliver high‑quality management accounts and outsourced finance services while beginning to take on client‑facing and supervisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director with a portfolio of clients and act as the day‑to‑day contact.
• Prepare and review management accounts for sole traders and SME clients.
• Oversee bookkeeping and outsourced finance work.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and assist with tax compliance.
• Liaise with audit, tax and payroll teams across the firm.
• Review trainee work and provide constructive feedback.
• Assist with reporting, analysis and early exposure to FP&A‑style work.
• Contribute to client growth and business development opportunities.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
• Solid experience producing management accounts within an accountancy practice.
• Confident communication with clients and ability to manage queries independently.
• Experience reviewing trainee work or readiness to take on that responsibility.
• Strong technical base with commercial application.
• Ability to manage deadlines, priorities and multiple client accounts.
