Accounts Payable Assistant – Hybrid (Haydock)

About the role

We are seeking an organised and detail‑focused Accounts Payable Assistant to join our busy finance team in Haydock. You will play a key role in processing supplier invoices and payments, helping to maintain strong supplier relationships and ensuring the smooth operation of our finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, credit notes and payment requests within agreed timescales.
• Match invoices with purchase orders and supporting documentation.
• Accurately code and post invoices in the finance system.
• Assist with supplier payment runs, following internal approval procedures.
• Maintain purchase ledger records and supplier account details.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Manage finance inbox enquiries and respond professionally to internal and external queries.
• Support month‑end finance activities, including reporting and aged creditor reviews.

Required profile

• Previous experience in Accounts Payable or a strong understanding of purchase ledger processes.
• Confident use of finance systems and strong numerical accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• Knowledge of VAT and familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle or SAP is advantageous.
