Accounts Payable Manager

About the role

The energy sector leader is looking for an Accounts Payable Manager to lead its payments and ledger function. Based in East Manchester, you will ensure supplier payments are accurate, timely and aligned with cash‑flow objectives while guiding a dedicated team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and manage the Accounts Payable Payments & Ledger team, setting objectives and monitoring KPIs and SLAs.
• Conduct regular one‑to‑ones, performance reviews and team meetings to foster development.
• Oversee weekly supplier payment runs, ensuring compliance with procedures and authorisations.
• Plan, forecast and prioritise cash‑flow requirements, handling urgent payment requests.
• Investigate and resolve unallocated cash items, debit balances and payment‑on‑account issues.
• Maintain accurate supplier ledger balances across multiple entities.
• Act as escalation point for complex payment or ledger queries and communicate status to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ experience in high‑volume accounts payable.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale payment operations and lead a team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a collaborative approach.
