Administrator – Pain Specialty Service (Hospital)

About the role

The Pain Specialty Service at Royal United Hospitals Bath is seeking an Administrator to provide comprehensive administrative support for both national and local pain services. You will work in a fast‑paced hospital environment, ensuring smooth patient pathways and high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Answer telephone and email enquiries from patients and clinicians.
• Process referrals, book outpatient appointments and residential programmes for in‑patients.
• Allocate clinic rooms and coordinate with clinicians to meet waiting‑time targets.
• Register patients promptly in the Millennium system.
• Maintain accurate records of patient pathways within the 18‑week breach period.
• Order stationery, equipment, travel, accommodation and handle invoicing via the UNIT 4 purchasing system.
• Track Pain Specialty activity data and produce reports.
• Attend specialty meetings, take minutes when required, and provide cover across the directorate.

Required profile

• Excellent communication, organisation and time‑management abilities.
• Flexibility and adaptability to handle a dynamic workload.
• Initiative and the ability to work independently.
• Previous administration or customer‑service experience is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Millennium patient‑management system.
• Experience using the UNIT 4 purchasing system.
