Adult Litigation Lawyer

About the role

The London Borough of Redbridge is seeking an experienced Adult Litigation Lawyer to join its Legal Department. Reporting to the Principal Lawyer – Social Care, you will provide specialist legal advice and representation on adult social care matters for the council and its partner departments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of adult and community care matters under the Care Act 2014, including Court of Protection and Mental Health Act proceedings.
• Provide advice on Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) applications.
• Defend judicial review challenges relating to adult social care, age assessment, and sections 17/20 of the Children Act, as well as matters concerning leaving care.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or equivalent legal qualification.
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience of adult social care legislation and practice.
• Strong understanding of local government and public sector law affecting social care and health.
• Proven experience working in a busy local authority environment.
