Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Breast Cancer (Band 8a)

About the role

The Breast Care Team at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Band 8a) to lead breast pain and family history clinics. This senior nursing role will deliver autonomous, high‑quality care across one‑stop and urgent assessment pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with undifferentiated breast conditions.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, refer for investigations or specialist input, and ensure safe discharge.
• Optimise patient flow in one‑stop clinics, reducing unnecessary anxiety and improving timely screening.
• Contribute to audit, research, and the development of departmental policies, protocols and guidelines.
• Provide clinical leadership and expert advice to nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team.

Required profile

• Registered nurse or equivalent healthcare professional.
• Master’s level education in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent).
• Independent non‑medical prescribing qualification recognised by the NMC or equivalent body.
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of breast care pathways and evidence‑based management.
