Advanced Technical Trainer – Rail Engineering

About the role
Join one of the UK’s most advanced engineering training environments and deliver high‑quality rail engineering apprenticeship training. You will work within the Academy of Engineering, supporting learners on block‑release from their employers and helping them become industry‑ready professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, develop and deliver Rail Engineering apprenticeship training that meets industry and accreditation standards.
- Lead learners through engaging theory, practical sessions and assessments.
- Conduct vocational assessments on‑site and off‑site for national programmes.
- Collaborate with the wider Engineering department to share expertise and support curriculum development.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices and employer partners.
- Uphold health, safety, compliance and safeguarding standards in all delivery activities.
Required profile
- Industry experience in rail operations, maintenance or engineering.
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Rail Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong teaching, training or mentoring abilities (teaching qualifications desirable but not essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, health and safety standards and relevant qualifications.
- Passion for innovation and inspiring the next generation of rail professionals.
