About the role

The A&E Receptionist provides a professional front‑line service for patients, visitors and staff in the Accident & Emergency department at St Johns Hospital. This part‑time position ensures smooth administrative operations and a welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, manage the reception desk and telephone system.
• Register patients, verify personal details and issue identification badges.
• Maintain accurate records, update patient flow boards and coordinate with clinical teams.
• Handle confidential information in line with data protection policies.
• Support the A&E team with administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling and documentation.

Required profile

• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to NHS values and equality and diversity policies.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
• PVG Scheme membership or willingness to obtain it before starting.
