Agentic AI Software Engineer

About the role

Trimble is hiring an Agentic AI Software Engineer in Newcastle, UK, as a Product Builder who owns the technical development, quality and performance of engineering work using cutting-edge agentic AI tools. Product Builders may specialise as SDETs, engineers, DevOps or architecture professionals, working on secure and optimal architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Orchestrate AI development agents for coding, documentation and refactoring through secure, maintainable pipelines and approved platforms, supervising outputs, enforcing code quality, maintaining version control and managing prompt libraries and evaluation datasets.
• Design modular, cost-aware architectures for scaling and performance, run early technical feasibility and security scans, and adhere to platform standards such as TID, EMS, Modus and File Service.
• Take part in prototype design reviews and document architectural decisions with lightweight ADRs.
• Build frontend features (UI, accessibility) and backend services (APIs, authentication, infrastructure).
• Define testing standards and write unit, integration and E2E tests with coverage targets and automated, continuous testing.
• Adhere to KPIs so that work is directly tied to business outcomes.

Required profile

• Ability to use and manage AI coding agents, recognising their strengths, limitations and error tendencies.
• Proficiency in prompt design, agentic programming and oversight of AI-generated code.
• Practices ethical AI principles including privacy, explainability, transparency and bias mitigation.
• Experience designing and implementing end-to-end tests.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ownership of outcomes.

Required skills

• System architecture design and modern full-stack development, including frontend frameworks, backend services and cloud infrastructure.
• Prompt design and agentic programming.
