Technical Sales Support Engineer (Marine/Survey)

About the role

Trimble Applanix is looking for an experienced hydrographic surveyor to act as the key link between its marine positioning technology and global client success. The role supports high-precision positioning products, translates customer feedback into requirements for next-generation hydrographic software and hardware, and works within a global team with follow-the-sun support. It is based in the UK and remote, with travel expected around 30%.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support and expert advice to international clients in office, digital and field settings.
• Carry out field operations such as new system installations, development testing, inside sales support and live product demonstrations.
• Create and deliver training courses for resellers and OEMs.
• Work with Product and Engineering teams to refine marine hardware and software based on real-world feedback.
• Help with dispatch, shipment logs and other cross-functional needs.
• Take part in a global support rotation and travel internationally.

Required profile

• Degree in Geomatics, Engineering or an equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hydrographic surveying background with practical experience of common survey software (Qimera, Hypack, EIVA, CARIS etc.) and multibeam sonar systems, plus knowledge of geodetic GNSS applications.
• IHO CAT A accreditation.
• Strong adaptability and communication skills to resolve complex technical issues independently.

Bonus points

• Electronic troubleshooting, hardware repair and system testing.
• Experience supporting marine positioning and orientation hardware or office software.
