Alliance Data Protection Advisor

About the role

The Alliance Data Protection Advisor will support Devon & Cornwall Police and Dorset Police in meeting their obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR. Working within the Alliance Data Protection Team, you will help ensure personal information is handled lawfully, fairly and transparently across both forces.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and process Subject Access Requests (SARs) from receipt to completion, meeting statutory timescales.
• Research information across multiple systems and collaborate with departments to verify data.
• Provide advice to internal and external customers on data protection matters.
• Contribute to awareness sessions, workshops and meetings across both forces.
• Develop professional knowledge through training and networking opportunities.

Required profile

• Organised, detail‑focused with a solid understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR.
• Strong research and decision‑making abilities.
• Effective workload management and clear written communication skills.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
