AP and Expense Manager

About the role

We are seeking an AP and Expense Manager to lead a remote finance team within a dynamic accounts payable and expense function. The role is a 12‑month contract, offering flexible remote or hybrid working from Whiteley or Farnborough, and reports to the Finance Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a remote AP and expense team.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness and compliance for all AP and expense transactions.
• Process supplier payments and employee expense claims correctly and on schedule.
• Track, report and resolve exceptions and errors.
• Drive improvements in UK P2P processes and keep procedures up to date.
• Oversee invoice entry, audits, reconciliations and supplier queries.
• Support month‑end close activities while ensuring confidentiality.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar finance or AP role (e.g., AP Manager, Accounts Payable Supervisor, Finance Operations Lead).
• Strong people‑management capability with experience leading remote teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving.
• Confident stakeholder and supplier engagement.
• Good understanding of VAT, tax documentation rules and basic accounting principles.
• Part‑qualified or qualified accounting background is a plus.

• Knowledge of VAT and tax document requirements.
• Understanding of double‑entry accounting and ledger management.
