Apprentice Fitter

About the role

FM Conway is seeking an Apprentice Fitter to join its Plant and Workshop division at the Dartford depot. This full‑time permanent apprenticeship offers a supported learning environment where you will develop practical skills in maintaining, servicing and repairing a wide range of HGVs, trailers and light commercial vehicles while working towards a Level 3 Construction Equipment Maintenance Mechanic qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with servicing, maintaining and repairing the company fleet.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify electrical, hydraulic and mechanical faults.
• Support welding, part replacement and vehicle bodywork repairs.
• Record service and maintenance activities accurately in the internal maintenance software, including photo evidence of conditions.
• Follow health, safety and environmental policies and report any concerns.

Required profile

• Reliable, enthusiastic team player with a genuine interest in mechanics, engineering or electrical systems.
• Practical mindset and ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Minimum Grade 4 (or above) in Maths and English GCSEs.
