Apprentice Residential Care Worker

About the role

This apprenticeship offers a fully funded Level 4 qualification while you work alongside experienced staff at Kyloe House, a secure children’s home. You will learn to provide safe, structured, and nurturing care for young people who have experienced trauma, under close supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Support residential staff in delivering daily routines and personal care for young people.
• Assist with activities, meals, and educational tasks in a trauma‑informed environment.
• Help maintain a safe and calm atmosphere, responding to strong emotions or challenging behaviour.
• Participate in shift work, including evenings, weekends and sleep‑in duties as required.
• Attend and engage in structured training and shadowing sessions.

Required profile

• No prior experience required; a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable children.
• Calm, patient and professional attitude in emotionally charged situations.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including out‑of‑hours and sleep‑in shifts.
• Ability to work as part of a supportive team and follow guidance.

• Salary Band 3: £25,583 – £25,989 per year.
• Out‑of‑hours enhancements (£2,623‑£2,665) and sleep‑in payment (£43.12 per shift).
