Artic Transport Planner

About the role

The purpose of the role is to develop a compliant, effective and profitable daily transport plan and manage fleet resources to ensure business requirements and customer satisfaction are delivered at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Review, allocate and schedule jobs for the Artic fleet using the Transport Management System (TMS) to maximise operational performance.
• Liaise with drivers throughout the day to ensure vehicle resources are available and safe.
• Support optimisation of fleet resources to improve profitability and customer service.
• Assist the Head of Artics with transport activities and compliance policy implementation.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders, external customers, third‑party suppliers and maintenance providers, resolving queries.
• Ensure fleet vehicles are available, compliant and ready for scheduled services.
• Create and analyse Vehicle Performance Reports and input waste transfer notes and weighbridge tickets accurately.
• Reconcile billing information daily to ensure accurate invoicing.
• Coordinate investigation of road transport accidents and infringements with Fleet Compliance.
• Work with Finance to reconcile disposal invoices for transport activities.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
• Good geographical knowledge of London and the South East.
• Previous experience in a planning role within a busy transport office.
• Experience dealing with internal and external customers and service providers.
• GCSE grade A‑C level education.
• Positive, respectful attitude and teamwork mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of PurGo system.
• Holder of a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
