Area Manager – Gateshead

About the role

Heron Foods, a fast‑growing discount food retailer, is seeking an Area Manager for its Gateshead region. You will oversee a portfolio of around 16 stores, driving performance, standards and team development across the area.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop store managers and their teams to achieve sales and service targets.
• Monitor store performance, analyse results and implement improvement plans.
• Work closely with the Regional Manager to execute succession planning and talent development.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety standards and visual merchandising guidelines.
• Represent Heron Foods in the local community, building strong customer relationships.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a retail Area Management or similar senior role.
• Track record of developing high‑performing teams and delivering results.
• Strong passion for retail, customer service and product knowledge.
• Ambitious, driven and able to thrive in a rapidly expanding business.
