Art & Design Technician – Secondary School

About the role

We are looking for a creative and practical Art & Design Technician to join a welcoming secondary school in Brent from September 2026. The role supports the Art & Design department by preparing resources, maintaining studios and assisting teachers in delivering hands‑on lessons.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for Art, Design and creative technology lessons.
• Maintain and organise art rooms, studios and workshop spaces, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
• Assist teachers and students with material handling, processes and techniques during practical sessions.
• Manage stock levels, order supplies and keep departmental resources up‑to‑date.
• Support the creation, display and installation of student artwork throughout the school.
• Help organise exhibitions, displays and school events showcasing creative work.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed in all workshop areas.

Required profile

• Experience in an art, design or creative environment (school experience desirable but not essential).
• Strong practical skills in art, design, textiles or related disciplines.
• Good knowledge of materials, tools and safe working practices.
• Excellent organisational attention to detail.
• Ability to engage positively with young people and work collaboratively with staff.
