Assistant Accountant (Gloucestershire)

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our client base in Gloucestershire. You will work with a range of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, supporting the preparation of accounts and financial statements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Assist in producing year‑end financial statements.
• Process bookkeeping records using cloud‑based accounting software.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Support the preparation of management accounts.
• Reconcile bank and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Maintain accurate client records and working papers.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information and answer routine queries.
• Support senior team members with ad‑hoc accounting assignments.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice or finance environment.
• AAT qualification or current study towards AAT.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within the profession.
