Assistant Accountant – Gloucestershire

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our team in Gloucestershire. The role involves supporting a range of clients, from sole traders to limited companies, ensuring their accounts are prepared accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Assist in the production of year‑end financial statements.
• Process bookkeeping records using cloud‑based accounting software.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Support the preparation of management accounts.
• Reconcile bank and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Maintain accurate client records and working papers.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information and answer routine queries.
• Provide ad‑hoc accounting assistance to senior team members.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice or finance environment.
• AAT qualification or currently studying towards AAT.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within the profession.
