Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing biotech organisation in south Cambridge to hire a part‑time Assistant Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will work around three days per week, with hours spread across the week, supporting the finance team as the business expands.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare VAT returns.
• Manage all aspects of the purchase ledger.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Execute month‑end processes up to trial balance.
• Assist in the production of management accounts and develop towards leading this function.
• Undertake additional ad‑hoc finance duties as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of transactional and month‑end processes.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based accounting software.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team‑player with a flexible and helpful approach.
