Assistant Bar Manager – Private Members' Club

About the role

The Kirkham Conservative Club is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Bar Manager to support the Club Steward in the day‑to‑day running of its busy private members' club. This full‑time role combines bar operations, team leadership and event support in a community‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Club Steward with daily club operations and ensure smooth service for members and guests.
• Lead by example on the bar, providing hands‑on support to the bar team.
• Maintain high standards across all bar, cellar, stock rooms and member areas.
• Handle stock control, cash procedures and compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, fire safety and licensing.
• Support planning and delivery of member events and private functions.
• Coach and encourage bar staff to deliver excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with the Club Steward, Club Secretary and Committee on operational matters.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Bar Supervisor or Assistant Manager in a hospitality setting.
• Strong leadership skills with a hands‑on, proactive approach.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, including shift work.
• Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and service.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health & safety, food hygiene, fire safety and licensing regulations.
• Experience with stock control and cash handling procedures.
