Assistant Head of Research Delivery

About the role

The Assistant Head of Research Delivery will lead the Research Delivery team across Hywel Dda University Health Board, overseeing both commercial and non‑commercial study portfolios. This secondment position reports to the Head of Research and Development and works closely with senior research leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall line‑management for Research Team Leads at each site and deputise for the Head of Research and Development in delivery matters.
• Implement R&D policies, drive changes to enhance the research delivery function, and lead the delivery components of the R&I Strategy.
• Maintain specialist knowledge of clinical research pathways, coordinate study set‑up and delivery, and identify service and training needs.
• Develop relationships with Health Care Research Wales, partner organisations, and other health boards to raise the profile of the R&D division.

Required profile

• Current employee of Hywel Dda University Health Board with manager approval for secondment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in research delivery or similar NHS research environments.
• Strong understanding of clinical research processes and ability to work across multiple sites and specialties.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Welsh language proficiency (desirable).
