Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

About the role

This fixed‑term position (until 31/03/2027) offers an exciting opportunity to work within the Youth Justice Team and wider Youth Support Service in Carmarthenshire, supporting children and young people with complex speech, language and communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct assessment and intervention for children and young people accessing the Youth Justice Team and Youth Support Service.
• Develop and deliver training packages for other professionals, carers and staff.
• Liaise with Carmarthenshire Local Authority and represent the Health Board at regional events.
• Collaborate closely with local authority, education and health staff to innovate service delivery.
• Take operational management responsibility for speech & language therapy services for specific client groups.
• Act as a specialist lead across the County/Health Board, ensuring service planning, standards and quality.
• Deputise for the head of speech & language therapy as required.
• Identify training needs and develop appropriate training programmes.

Required profile

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience in youth justice or similar settings.
• Ability to work at universal, targeted and specialist levels with children and young people.
• Strong collaborative skills to work with local authority, education and health partners.
• Experience in service planning, quality assurance and training delivery.
