Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

Join a logistics organisation as an Assistant Management Accountant, supporting the preparation of management accounts and financial reporting. You will work closely with operational teams and site managers to analyse performance, investigate variances and provide insight that drives commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and support annual budgets and bi‑annual forecasts.
• Review flash reports, reconcile turnover and labour costs, and investigate variances.
• Maintain stock valuations, KPI data, and supplier invoice reconciliations.
• Manage weekly BACS payment runs, supplier account reconciliations, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support statutory reporting, internal and external audits, and inter‑company balance reconciliations.
• Collaborate with site managers to ensure operational developments are reflected in the accounts and assist with ad‑hoc finance projects.

Required profile

• Organised, analytical finance professional with 1‑2 years of experience or a recent graduate with a placement year.
• Studying or planning to study CIMA/ACCA.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive, commercially focused with confidence to work with operational and senior colleagues.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with management accounts, reconciliations, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Purchase ledger and supplier reconciliation experience.
