Assistant Manager - Blue Posts, St James's

About the role

The Blue Posts in St James's is a flagship Urban & Heritage pub in Central London, known for its sport and live music. As Assistant Manager you will work closely with the General Manager, leading the team on the floor and supporting the day-to-day running of this high-volume venue. The pay is £33,000 - £37,000 plus bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the pub
• Take ownership of shifts and lead the team during busy services
• Coach, develop and motivate the team to deliver consistently great hospitality
• Create an energetic, welcoming atmosphere for regular customers and visitors
• Drive sales and maximise opportunities across the wet-led operation
• Lead from the front during major sporting events and peak trading periods
• Maintain excellent standards in service, safety, cleanliness and compliance
• Help deliver live music, sporting events and other occasions
• Build strong relationships with customers and become a familiar face in the local community

Required profile

• Previous hospitality management experience (essential)
• Experience in a busy, high-volume pub, bar, restaurant or similar
• Experience managing large teams and leading busy shifts
• Confidence in a fast-paced, predominantly wet-led operation
• Strong understanding of customer experience and commercial awareness
• Hands-on leadership style, with strong communication and motivation skills
• Ambition to progress towards a General Manager role
• Eligibility to hold a Personal Licence, as the role may cover the business in the General Manager's absence
