Assistant Manager - Pub & Grill, Maidstone

About the role

Newnham Court Inn, a pub restaurant on the outskirts of Maidstone with a focus on chargrilled food, is looking for an Assistant Manager to support the General Manager, lead the team and help deliver excellent guest experiences. The role is full time, permanent and paid £31,000 to £35,000 plus bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Motivate and inspire the team to deliver excellent service and a warm, welcoming atmosphere
• Help run a busy pub by supporting the General Manager with daily operations, leading shifts and keeping things running smoothly
• Make every guest visit memorable, whether for a meal, a family celebration or a drink in the beer garden
• Help manage sales, labour costs, stock and profitability
• Coach and support team members, helping them build confidence and progress
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, compliance and presentation
• Build strong relationships across the business and a positive team culture

Required profile

• Ideally previous management or supervisory experience in hospitality, such as a pub, restaurant or similar
• Eligibility to hold a Personal Licence, as the role may involve covering the business when the General Manager is absent (the licence is obtained after selection)

Required skills

• Passion for hospitality and strong leadership and people-management skills
• Hands-on approach and good commercial awareness of sales, costs and profitability
• Organisation and the ability to decide quickly in a fast-paced environment
