Assistant Manager – Retail Trade Supplies

About the role

Williams Trade Supplies, a leading independent trade‑only plumbing and heating merchant, is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Branch Manager in delivering excellent customer service and driving store performance in Chichester.

Key responsibilities

• Update and maintain product displays, branch upkeep and merchandise availability.
• Support the Branch Manager in attracting new customers and leading the team day‑to‑day.
• Deliver outstanding in‑person and phone customer service.
• Conduct stock checks, receive, check and store incoming goods, and ensure safe warehouse operations.
• Perform daily administrative duties such as banking and manage supplier relationships.

Required profile

• Ambitious with a growth mindset and a keen interest in developing leadership skills.
• Highly accurate with strong attention to detail and a commitment to health & safety.
• Flexible, deadline‑oriented and able to meet daily operational demands.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience in plumbing and heating merchants, builders' merchants, wholesale trade counters, DIY, hardware or on‑the‑tools in the plumbing/heating trade.
• Ability to manage stock, perform administrative tasks and maintain a safe warehouse environment.
