Assistant Professor – Qualitative Research in Health Screening

About the role
The University of Warwick is recruiting an Assistant Professor with a research focus on qualitative research in health screening. The role supports the acceptability workstream of an NIHR‑funded newborn screening study for spinal muscular atrophy, using a stepped‑wedge trial across seven English regions.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and analyse qualitative data (interviews, focus groups) for the newborn screening study.
- Manage large volumes of qualitative data using NVivo.
- Engage with diverse participants, including patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team and contribute to study design and reporting.
- Disseminate findings through high‑quality research outputs and presentations to varied audiences.
- Participate in patient and public involvement activities and support mixed‑methods components where relevant.
Required profile
- PhD or equivalent experience in health screening, maternity care or a related discipline.
- Proven experience conducting sensitive interviews and focus groups.
- Strong track record of publishing high‑quality research.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel for in‑person data collection.
Required skills
- Proficiency with NVivo for qualitative data management and analysis.
