Assistant Project Manager – Rail MEP

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager will support delivery of the Electrical, Mechanical, Public Health, Fire, Telecoms and BEMs design for the Old Oak Common HS2 gateway station – one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects. Working within the project management team, you will help coordinate design, engineering and stakeholder activities to ensure safe, on‑time, on‑budget delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and managing a multi‑disciplinary design team to meet project milestones and quality standards.
• Support day‑to‑day project governance, reporting, risk and issue escalation.
• Monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and champion safety culture on site.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants and client representatives to track progress and resolve issues.
• Help prepare project documentation, procurement approvals and change management processes.

Required profile

• Proactive, detail‑oriented professional with experience on large infrastructure or construction projects.
• Strong ability to engage internal and external stakeholders at senior levels.
• Familiarity with project governance, reporting structures and health & safety standards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire, Telecoms) design processes.
• Project planning and programme monitoring.
• Risk management and issue escalation.
