Assistant Scientist – Laboratory Technician (Cambridgeshire)

About the role

LGC ASSURE is seeking a motivated Assistant Scientist to join its Supplements and Feeds Testing team at the Fordham laboratory in Cambridgeshire. The role starts in the Sample Management team, providing a solid foundation in sample integrity, preparation, storage and disposal before transitioning to hands‑on analytical work.

Key responsibilities

• Assess sample integrity and perform routine sample management tasks.
• Prepare samples for analytical analysis, including liquid‑liquid and solid‑phase extractions.
• Operate automation equipment and conduct manual extraction processes.
• Prepare analytical reference solutions, solvents and reagents.
• Use, maintain and calibrate analytical laboratory equipment.

Required profile

• A‑level or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or Biology.
• Strong attention to detail and effective time‑management skills.
• Interest in anti‑doping, supplement and animal feed testing.
• Experience in a laboratory environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
