Assistant to Lead Lawyer

About the role

This position supports the Lead Lawyer in the Casualty Team, handling complex and high‑value injury claims for insurance clients. You will manage a caseload of EL/PL cases, assist on multi‑track matters and help develop the firm’s profile.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Lead Lawyer to manage complex injury claims, including high‑value multi‑track cases.
• Communicate with insurer clients, respond to queries and provide case updates.
• Conduct forensic analysis of quantum evidence, prepare chronologies and identify anomalies.
• Review medical records, identify issues and instruct medical experts.
• Analyse liability evidence, spot gaps and draft concise technical advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and causation.
• Interview witnesses, draft statements and pleadings, and liaise with all parties involved.
• Instruct counsel, oversee a paralegal’s tasks and support their development.
• Maintain case‑management systems with up‑to‑date information for clients.

Required profile

• Experience in liability and quantum assessment within personal injury or casualty claims.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and telephone advocacy skills.
• Ability to work under supervision, receive feedback and collaborate with senior claims handlers.
