Litigated EL/PL Claims Handler

About the role

Keoghs is looking for an experienced Claims Handler to manage a portfolio of litigated Employer’s Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims for a major insurer. Working on a delegated authority basis, you will own each claim from instruction through to resolution, shaping litigation strategy and delivering strong client outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of litigated EL/PL claims, investigating liability, causation and quantum.
• Review pleadings, witness statements, medical records and expert reports.
• Develop and execute litigation and settlement strategies within delegated authority limits.
• Negotiate settlements and handle claims proceeding through Infant Approval Hearings.
• Maintain accurate reserving, file management and build relationships with the insurer and key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with a Technical Support Lawyer on complex legal and procedural issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling litigated EL/PL claims.
• Strong knowledge of personal injury litigation and the Civil Procedure Rules.
• Experience working within a delegated authority environment.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently while maintaining high service standards.
