Assistant Town Planner – Chelmsford

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Town Planner to join a design‑led planning consultancy in Chelmsford. You will work alongside experienced planners on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed‑use schemes, gaining exposure across the South East.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals and development appraisals.
• Conduct site visits, undertake research and analyse relevant planning policies.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Support senior planners on major and complex projects.
• Contribute to the growth and success of the Chelmsford office.

Required profile

• RTPI‑accredited degree in planning or a related discipline.
• 6‑24 months experience in a planning consultancy or local authority (strong graduates considered).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive attitude with a genuine passion for the built environment.
