Assistant Unit Manager - Children's Home

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Unit Manager to join our Children’s Residential Service in Rochdale. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people aged 8‑17 with social and emotional needs, supporting the overall mission of the home.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the residential home, ensuring a safe and caring setting.
• Monitor, review and audit systems to maintain compliance with Ofsted standards and relevant regulations.
• Supervise, mentor and appraise the care team, acting as a role model and leader.
• Deputise for the Registered Manager when required, handling managerial duties.
• Promote the emotional health and wellbeing of children, acting as a positive role model.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 21.
• At least 2 years experience working with children and young people.
• NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children and Young People or equivalent.
• Strong leadership abilities and a commitment to safeguarding.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
