Assistant Unit Manager – Children’s Home

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Unit Manager to support the daily operation of a residential children’s home in Rochdale. The role involves creating a safe, nurturing environment for young people aged 8‑17 and working closely with the Registered Manager and care team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the residential home, ensuring safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Monitor, review and audit systems to maintain compliance with Ofsted standards and relevant regulations.
• Supervise, mentor and appraise staff, conducting regular performance reviews.
• Deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
• Promote emotional health and act as a positive role model for residents.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 21.
• At least 2 years’ experience working with children and young people.
• NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children and Young People (or equivalent).
• Strong leadership abilities and commitment to safeguarding.
