Associate Counsel – Compliance (Europe & Middle East)

About the role

The NBA is seeking an Associate Counsel to lead compliance efforts across Europe and the Middle East. Based in London, you will manage third‑party due diligence and provide legal guidance on anti‑bribery, sanctions, conflicts‑of‑interest and business conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Lead third‑party due‑diligence reviews in line with NBA policies, assessing legal, regulatory and reputational risk.
• Analyse deal terms, third‑party information and risk reports, and advise the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer.
• Draft concise reports summarising findings and recommending actions.
• Provide compliance advice to regional employees on anti‑bribery, sanctions, conflicts‑of‑interest and business conduct.
• Support regional business lawyers with compliance‑related contractual provisions.
• Deliver due‑diligence and compliance training to regional staff.
• Track and communicate the status of open compliance issues.

Required profile

• 4‑7 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in a top‑tier multinational law firm or multinational company.
• Law degree from a top‑tier university in the U.S. or U.K.
• Qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales and/or admitted to the New York bar.
• Demonstrated ability to balance commercial goals with risk and think strategically.
• Strong analytical, writing and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Proactive problem‑solving and ability to work autonomously in a high‑volume environment.
