Associate Director Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Director Geotechnical Engineer to lead a team of over ten engineers on high‑profile building and infrastructure projects across the UK. Reporting to the Ground Engineering Director, you will be responsible for delivering complex geotechnical solutions within a globally recognised consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design for deep basements, foundations, retaining structures and ground movement assessments.
• Develop innovative design solutions for complex urban developments.
• Manage project delivery, programmes, resources and commercial performance.
• Review ground investigations and technical reports.
• Perform and review advanced numerical modelling using PLAXIS 2D/3D, WALLAP, GeoStudio, Repute and the Oasys software suite.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and act as principal client contact on key commissions.
• Support business development and win new work.
• Mentor and develop Engineers and Senior Engineers.
• Ensure technical excellence, quality assurance and CDM compliance throughout project delivery.

Required profile

• Experienced consulting engineer with strong technical capability.
• Commercial awareness and proven leadership skills.
• Ability to manage large, technically challenging geotechnical commissions.
• Excellent communication and client‑facing abilities.
