Associate Director – Transport Planning

About the role

As an Associate Director in Transport Planning at BWB Consulting, you will lead complex, multidisciplinary projects from proposal through planning, delivery and beyond, shaping the future of the Transport & Accessibility team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership on large, complex projects, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and associated examinations.
• Contribute to expert witness work, delivering clear technical evidence and professional judgement.
• Build and develop trusted client relationships, identifying opportunities and supporting business growth.
• Oversee high‑quality technical outputs, ensuring delivery aligns with client requirements.
• Help strengthen the existing portfolio and develop new markets alongside the senior team.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading transport planning and multidisciplinary projects from proposal to delivery.
• Experience with DCOs, examinations and expert witness work.
• Strong technical expertise with a track record of high‑quality outputs.
• Ability to translate client requirements into practical strategies and successful outcomes.
• Collaborative leadership style and drive to shape team direction.

Required skills

• Transport planning expertise.
• Knowledge of Development Consent Orders (DCOs) processes.
• Experience in examinations and expert witness testimony.
