Associate – Office of the General Counsel

About the role

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is seeking a legal Associate to join its Office of the General Counsel (OGC) in London. The role is part of a three‑year fixed‑term programme starting around 1 September 2026, supporting the bank’s financing and treasury activities across its global operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on EBRD borrowing operations under the Global MTN programme, commercial paper issuances and other funding transactions.
• Handle derivatives, repo and other master agreements for capital‑market and treasury matters in both established and emerging markets.
• Draft, review and negotiate legal documentation related to debt capital markets, structured finance and related transactions.
• Conduct legal research to support policy development and institutional initiatives.

Required profile

• Law degree (post‑graduate qualification preferred) from a leading university.
• 3‑5 years of experience as a lawyer in private practice or an in‑house legal team.
• Demonstrable experience in international capital markets, including debt capital markets, derivatives or structured finance.
• Experience in EBRD’s regions of operation or across multiple jurisdictions is an asset.
• Excellent written and spoken English; French proficiency is preferred.
