Associate / Principal Fire Engineer – Consultancy

About the role

Our client, a leading independent development, built asset and engineering consultancy, is launching a new fire engineering service line. They are looking for a technically strong Fire Engineer to help build the practice from the ground up, with a clear path to a director‑level role within 2‑3 years.

Key responsibilities

• Provide fire engineering advice on acquisitions, due diligence and project instructions.
• Produce high‑quality technical and commercial fire engineering reports.
• Support fire risk assessments (FRAs) and fire risk evaluation works where required.
• Develop existing client relationships and assist in winning new business for the emerging service line.
• Collaborate with senior multidisciplinary colleagues to shape the future offering.

Required profile

• Degree in Fire Engineering or a STEM degree with a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Science/Fire Safety.
• Membership of MIFireE (or working towards it) and IEng or CEng status (or working towards it).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an engineering consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of Approved Document B, BS 9999 and BS 7974.

Required skills

• Confidence using CFD and evacuation modelling software.
