Audit & Accounts Senior

About the role

Our client is a well‑established, growing accountancy practice seeking an Audit & Accounts Senior to join their expanding audit team in Southampton. You will take ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion, working closely with managers and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and deliver audit assignments, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
• Supervise, support and review the work of junior team members.
• Review financial statements, assess internal controls and identify audit risks.
• Develop appropriate testing approaches and liaise directly with clients throughout the audit process.
• Highlight issues, provide recommendations and ensure work complies with relevant auditing and accounting standards.
• Contribute to group audits, first‑year audits and assignments involving acquisitions, disposals, restructures, overseas subsidiaries and IFRS reporting, as required.

Required profile

• Relevant audit experience within an accountancy practice.
• Studying towards or already holding a recognised professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or CA); qualification by experience also considered.
• Proven ability to lead assignments, manage competing deadlines and communicate confidently with clients and colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail and a supportive approach to developing junior staff.
