Audit Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join a respected mid‑tier Chartered Accountancy firm in Reading. The role will lead audit engagements, manage a diverse client portfolio and contribute to the growth of the Audit & Assurance practice.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and oversee audit assignments, ensuring compliance with professional standards and client deadlines.
• Prepare cost estimates, manage billing and monitor budgets for each engagement.
• Brief and support audit staff on client specifics, providing guidance throughout the assignment.
• Maintain audit quality through internal and external quality assurance activities.
• Develop and nurture strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service.
• Identify cross‑departmental opportunities and collaborate with specialist teams to meet client needs.
• Stay current with technical developments and industry changes through continuous professional development.
• Mentor junior team members, including students and senior staff.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification (essential).
• Proven managerial experience in audit within a Chartered Accountancy environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage client portfolios and build lasting relationships.
• Extensive experience delivering high‑quality audits on time and within budget.
