Audit Senior – 70% Audit, 30% Accounts role

About the role

This senior audit position combines 70% audit work with 30% accounts responsibilities. You will manage a portfolio of large owner‑managed businesses (up to £200m turnover) and lead a small team of junior staff in the Watford office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client audits and assist with complex corporate audits using computerised audit systems.
• Produce audit files for review by the Audit Manager/Director.
• Plan smaller audit assignments, meet budgets and client deadlines.
• Supervise and coach graduate audit staff on‑site, reviewing their work.
• Assist audits across sectors such as IT/Hi‑Tech, Consumer Services, Manufacturing, Logistics and Legal Services.
• Prepare accounts, financial statements, group accounts, partnerships, LLPs and tax computations.
• Liaise directly with senior management of audit clients and external stakeholders.
• Ensure work is profitable, timely and compliant with firm standards, including filing accounts with Companies House.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA or ACCA auditor.
• Degree‑educated with extensive experience in an accountancy practice.
• Demonstrated staff management or supervisory experience.
• Willingness to relocate to Watford if currently based elsewhere.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computerised audit systems.
