About the role
We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Autism Specialist Support Assistant to join a leading specialist school in Slough. The role involves supporting children aged 5‑16 with complex autism and learning disabilities within a therapeutic, activity‑rich environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and group support to students during classroom and therapeutic activities.
- Collaborate closely with on‑site therapists, psychologists and teaching staff.
- Shadow and learn from specialist sessions to develop expertise in special‑needs education.
- Assist in planning and delivering therapeutic activities that complement traditional lessons.
- Use initiative to adapt support strategies to individual student needs.
Required profile
- Genuine passion for working with vulnerable children and a compassionate, empathetic attitude.
- Proactive, adaptable and able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with children or adults with special needs is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Interest in pursuing a career in special‑needs education, therapeutic support, or related psychology fields.
Required skills

- Full‑time, Monday‑Friday schedule (8:30 am – 3:45 pm).
- Mentoring and shadowing opportunities with experienced therapists and psychologists.
- Competitive daily rate of £90‑£110.
