Autism Support Assistant

About the role
The specialist school in Thatcham is looking for a compassionate Autism Support Assistant to join its team. This full‑time, on‑site position offers graduates and aspiring professionals hands‑on experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related learning needs.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and SEN staff to implement individual education plans.
- Assist pupils with sensory regulation strategies and adapt learning activities.
- Promote independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing in daily classroom routines.
- Support communication development and help manage emotional regulation challenges.
Required profile
- Recent graduate or student in psychology, speech & language, education, counselling or a related field.
- Enthusiastic about working with children with autism and special educational needs.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
