Band 3 Theatre Assistant – Day Surgery Unit

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Theatre Assistant to join the Day Surgery Unit at Nevill Hall. The unit operates five high‑turnover theatres and offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting surgical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team with set‑up and breakdown of operating theatres.
• Prepare and maintain sterile instruments and equipment.
• Transport patients safely to and from the theatre.
• Support other sites within the health board as required.
• Adhere to health‑and‑safety and infection‑control procedures, including the smoke‑free policy.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic and motivated with a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑turnover environment.
• Flexibility to support multiple sites and adapt to changing priorities.
• Commitment to NHS standards and patient safety.

Required skills

• Knowledge of operating theatre procedures and instrument handling.
• Basic understanding of infection‑control practices.
• Effective communication with clinical and support staff.
